15:09 GMT 05.10.2017 (Updated: 18:04 GMT 05.10.2017) An astronomical phenomenon of a full moon near the autumnal equinox, also known as the full ‘harvest moon,’ will manifest itself to sky watchers in some parts of the Earth on Thursday night, October 5.
This October’s full Harvest Moon will be visible in several areas of the world all night on October 5 "while passing by — or fully covering — Neptune," according to Space.com.
The moon is expected to reach its full phase at about 18:40 GMT.
The website also points out that harvest moons are quite rare in October, with only 18 of them falling between 1970 and 2050, as this phenomenon typically takes place "much closer to autumnal equinox."
'Harvest moon' is a traditional name given in North America to the full moon closest to the autumnal equinox.
