Mexican President to Take Part in BRICS Summit in China

The Mexican Foreign Ministry announces that the country's president is going to participate in the BRICS summit in China.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto will visit China and take part in the BRICS summit scheduled for early September, the Mexican Foreign Ministry said on Monday in a statement.

"At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Enrique Pena Nieto will take part in the emerging economies’ dialogue and the business forum that will take place on September 4-5 in the Chinese city of Xiamen as part of the ninth BRICS summit," the statement said.

The Mexican president will also hold a bilateral meeting with his Chinese counterpart.

The BRICS acronym stands for the names of five large developing economies — Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
