Barcelona's authorities decided Wednesday to ramp up police presence at airports, railway stations and other strategic points, as well as increase the use of movable obstacles in major tourist locations in the wake of two van attacks in the country's autonomous Catalonia region, local media reported.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – According to El Pais newspaper, the measures were adopted during a meeting of Barcelona’s Security Board, including the city’s Mayor Ada Colau, Catalan Home Affairs Minister Joaquim Forn Chiariello, delegate of the Spanish government in Catalonia Enric Millo and representatives of security and emergency services.

On Saturday, Spanish authorities decided not to raise the level of terrorist threat to the maximum fifth level.
