This incident is the latest in a series of lockdowns that have occurred in Washington, DC. In May there were at least two similar incidents, one involved a mysterious package while the other was related to a fence jumper.
US President Donald Trump is currently not at the White House. He is traveling to Arizona for an event scheduled for later Tuesday.
