Egyptian FM Hands Over President Sisi's Message for Putin to Lavrov

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said Monday that he handed over to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov a message from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sisi addressed to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – In the message, Sisi reaffrirms Egypt's commitment to develop relations with Russia.

"During the meeting, I had the honor of handing over to Mr. Lavrov a message from President Abdel Fattah Sisi for his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, in which Egypt reaffirms its commitment to develop bilateral relations between our countries, boost consultations in all areas and issues of mutual interest," Shoukry said at a press conference with Lavrov.

Putin, Sisi Pledge to Develop Energy Ties, Military-Technical Cooperation

Shoukry started his two-day state visit to Moscow on Sunday. During the visit, he will also meet with Russian Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov.

The diplomatic relations between Moscow and Cairo were established in August 1943. Since then, the two countries have cooperated in a number of areas, including agriculture, defense and tourism.
