MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Public transport in Barcelona is back to normal schedule following the attack in La Rambla street, which will be open for traffic this afternoon, a press officer with the Barcelona City Council told Sputnik on Friday.
"Public transport is now back to normal schedule. And in the afternoon they will also open La Rambla for usual traffic, so you will be able to go there by car soon," the press officer said.
On Thursday, a van mowed down a crowd of pedestrians in the central Ramblas area in Spain’s tourist resort of Barcelona, leaving 13 people dead and over a hundred injured, in what police said was an act of terrorism. The Daesh terrorist group (outlawed in Russia) claimed responsibility for the attack.
Following the attack, the public transport was shut down and La Rambla was closed. The street was later opened for pedestrians.
