Stunning Perseid Meteor Shower to Peak on August 12

From Saturday evening until Sunday morning, the Perseid meteor shower, one of the most spectacular meteor showers of the year, will be seen on the night sky in many corners of our planet.

The shower tends to peak in the middle of August and is best observed when the sky is darkest.

The spectacular view of up to 150 meteors burning up in the sky each hour depends on weather conditions: if the sky remains cloudless, one has better chances to observe the stunning occurrence.

Most astronomers assume that the best time to view meteor showers is right before dawn.

According to Meteor Activity Outlook of the International Meteor Organization (IMO), the most active phase will last from 14:00 GMT on August 12 to 2:30 GMT time on August 13.
