Lockheed Martin Wins Over $161Mln to Manufacture Missile Launchers

The US Defense Department said that Lockheed Martin won a contract worth more than $161 million to upgrade the Army's tactical guided missile launch assemblies.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Lockheed Martin won a contract worth more than $161 million to upgrade the Army's tactical guided missile launch assemblies, the US Defense Department said in a press release.

"Lockheed Martin Missile and Fire Control, Dallas, Texas, was awarded a $161,433,900 firm-fixed-price contract for the production of 150 Army Tactical Missile Guided Missile and Launching Assemblies’ Service Life Extension Program, the release said on Wednesday.

The US Army's Tactical Missile System, or TACMS, is a long range guided missile that is stored and fired from the guided missile launch assembly, according to published Lockheed Martin documentation. Some 580 TACMS have been fired in combat operations.
