Trump Did Not Speak to Putin Prior to Signing Russia Sanctions Bill, White House
20:01 GMT 02.08.2017 (Updated: 10:23 GMT 03.08.2017) US President Donald Trump had no conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin before signing the Russia sanctions bill into law, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said in a briefing on Wednesday.
When asked whether Trump spoke to Putin prior to signing off on the measure, Sanders stated, "No.'
The White House says Trump did not feel pressured to sign a bill on Wednesday that places new sanctions on Iran, Russia and North Korea.
"No, as I’ve said, the president supports putting pressure on these three countries in particular, so he supports the principle of it and wanted to take action in that course," Sanders responded when asked if Trump felt pressured to sign the sanctions bill.
