WASHINGTON (Sputnik) The incident took place in eastern Afghanistan due to mechanical problems, Fox News reported.

The United States and its allies launched a military operation in Afghanistan in 2001 following the terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington, DC on September 11, 2001.
