'Useless Drills': Why NATO Warships Called at Ukraine's Odessa Port
KIEV (Sputnik) – Flagship of the Ukrainian Navy frigate Hetman Sahaidachny is holding joint drills with vessels from the United Kingdom, Turkey and Romania in the Black Sea, the Navy command said on Thursday.

“Today, on July 27, the Ukrainian Navy along with vessels from the United Kingdom, Turkey and Romania, is holding PASSEX-type drills [bilateral passing exercise] in the northwestern part of the Black Sea,” the Ukrainian Navy wrote on its Facebook page, adding that the maneuver is aimed at training joint activities in accordance with NATO standards.

According to the Ukrainian Navy, along with Hetman Sahaidachny, UK Royal Navy's HMS Duncan destroyer, Turkey’s TCG Yildirim frigate and Romania’s F-221 Regele Ferdinand frigate took part in the drills.

Hetman Sahaidachny practiced shipboard landing with a Ka-27 helicopter. An An-26 jet was also used in the drills to practice monitoring and transfer data to the ships.
