'No Critical Issues': Siemens Products Can Be Replaced With Russian Analogues

In the wake of Siemens' decision to halt power equipment supplies to Russian state firms over reports of the company's turbines being transported to Crimea, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich said that the firm's products can be easily replaced with Russian analogues.

ULAN-UDE (Republic of Buryatia, Russia), (Sputnik) — Russian state firms are not experiencing critical issues with replacing German conglomerate Siemens' products with either domestically or globally-made products, Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich said Tuesday.

"There are no critical issues: there are several manufacturers in the world that make these types of products, we are already beginning to produce many types of products ourselves," Dvorkovich told reporters.

Commenting on Siemens' announcement Friday to annul a power plant equipment supply license agreement and halt power equipment supplies to Russian state firms, Dvorkovich said "there is not yet a complete refusal to supply equipment, as far as I understand."

In early July, Siemens created a task force team to examine reports about the transfers of turbines produced by Siemens Gas Turbines Technologies, a joint venture with the Russian Power Machines company, to the Crimean peninsula. On Friday, the company said it had "credible information" that all four of its turbines intended for the project in southern Russia's Taman were illegally moved to Crimea. Siemens decided to annul a power plant equipment supply license agreement and suspend power equipment supplies to Russian state firms to devise new control measures.
