Russian Antimonopoly Service Analyzes Schlumberger's Purchase of 51% EDC Shares

Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich said on Tuesday that Russia's Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) is scrutinizing the Schlumberger company's intention to acquire a majority stake in Russia's Eurasia Drilling Company (EDC).

ULAN-UDE (Republic of Buryatia, Russia), (Sputnik) — FAS is analyzing Schlumberger oilfield services company's plan to acquire 51% of EDC's shares, Dvorkovich said Tuesday.

"Naturally, the antimonopoly service analyzed this issue. It has so far presented information to the foreign investment commission simply for information purposes," Dvorkovich told reporters.

He said the transaction to acquire 51 percent of EDC shares, which Schlumberger announced last Thursday and EDC said it agreed to on Friday, "is considered, but so far without any conclusions."

"We do not currently have a complete set of materials to consider this issue. The FAS is so far analyzing all aspects of this transaction," Dvorkovich said.
