This has never happened before: Saint Petersburg's Blagoveschensky, Dvortsovy, Troitsky and Liteiny bridges were raised during the daytime for the first time in their history. The drawbridges, which usually open according to a schedule for a few hours during the night, were lifted for a maritime parade rehearsal held in the city on July 23.

In Russia, Navy Day is a national holiday celebrated on the last Sunday of July. This year, the main nationwide Navy Day parade will take place in St. Petersburg and Kronstadt on July 30. More than 20 warships and about 5,000 servicemen from all over the country will attend the event.
