MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The next meeting of the Russian-Algerian intergovernmental commission on economic and trade cooperation will be held in Algiers on September 18-20, the director of the business projects of the Russian-Arab Business Council, Svetlana Kovaleva, told Sputnik Friday.

"The intergovernmental commission's meeting will be held in Algiers on September 18-20. The Russian delegation will be headed by Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak. The Algerian delegation will be headed by new Algerian Energy Minister [Mustapha Guitouni]… The date is agreed," Kovaleva said.

She added that Russia's Economic Development Ministry has started to form a list of Russian companies that would be participating in the meeting.

"The Economic Development Ministry has just started to form lists of the participants. The Russian Export Center is going [to participate], I think Rostselmash will also take part, because they have been to Algeria before. The manufacturing sector will be definitely represented. Rostec company will participate, and, probably, Transmashholding will also join," Kovaleva said.

The previous meeting of the Russian-Algerian intergovernmental commission on economic and trade cooperation was held in Moscow on July 31, 2015. It was presided over by Novak and Algerian Finance Minister Abderrahmane Benkhalfa. The sides discussed bilateral cooperation in energy, construction, manufacturing as well as environmental management issues. Following the meeting, the delegations reached an agreement on establishing a bilateral task group on cooperation in the energy sector.
