Russian Firm Sistema Moves to Recuse Judge in Rosneft's Multibillion Dollar Case

Russia’s large conglomerate company Sistema moved on Thursday to disqualify judge Irina Nurislamova in a $2.7-billion case filed against it by the country’s state oil giant Rosneft on suspicion of personal prejudice.

UFA (Sputnik) — The case has been adjourned. An arbitration court in the Russian republic of Bashkortostan is looking into Sistema’s suspected liability for its 2014 handling of assets of a local oil company, Bashneft, which is now controlled by Rosneft.

"Before we move forward, we want to recuse the judge because the judge is unlawfully ruling on interim measures and formally deciding on participants’ access in the case. We doubt the judge’s impartiality," an attorney for Sistema said in court.
