US, China Share Mutual Objective to Reduce Trade Deficit - Treasury Department

China is willing to cooperate with the United States to reduce the trade deficit between the two countries, the US Department of the Treasury said in a release.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — On Tuesday, Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin stated the United States wants China to continue to open it markets to US companies. Mnuchin added that he would also like to see China remove barriers to trade in the information and communications technology field.

"China acknowledged our shared objective to reduce the trade deficit which both sides will work cooperatively to achieve," the release stated on Wednesday.

US-China Comprehensive Economic Dialogue began in Washington, DC today with the participation of US Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross and China’s Vice Premier Wang Yang.
