The International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS-2017 is expected to contribute to the promotion of Russian aerospace products both inside the country and abroad, President Vladimir Putin said Tuesday.

ZHUKOVSKIY (Moscow Region) (Sputnik) — During his visit to the forum, which started earlier in the day near Moscow, the Russian president noted that during the event, leading Russian and international companies will showcase their projects, conferences and seminars on the relevant issues of the industry development will be held, and a number of major contracts will be signed.

"We expect that all this would contribute to strengthening of the production and cooperation, the growth of the international cooperation, the promotion of the Russian products at both the internal and the external market. We have a lot to offer," Putin said.

The Russian president also noted the excellent level of organization of MAKS-2017.

"MAKS has indeed reached a high level, becoming an anticipated event for lovers of aerospace technology," Putin pointed out.

The president continued by praising the interest of the Russian people in the development of aviation and space exploration, as well as the legacy of the Soviet aerospace engineering specialists.

"Our goal is to continue the traditions established by them," Putin said.

The MAKS-2017, one of the world's largest aviation shows established 25 years ago, is being held in Zhukovsky, 40 kilometers (25 miles) south-east of Moscow on July 18-23.
