Chinese Beijing Gas Group Company Ltd. has expressed an interest in extracting and transporting gas from gas fields in Russia's Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) located in Siberia, Republic's Head Egor Borisov told Sputnik Tuesday.

VLADIVOSTOK (Sputnik) — The Russian and Chinese companies have already successfully accomplished oil and gas projects in the region, Borisov noted.

"The representatives of Beijing Gas Group Company Ltd. demonstrate interest in extracting gas from Yakutia. The search of credible and solvent customers is a substantial aspect for Yakutia within the context of the current market situation. It is especially important, taking into account the Power of Siberia pipeline that will enable the access to China's largest energy and industrial market since 2020," Borisov said.
