What’s Behind the Pentagon’s Push to Build New Bases in Iraq and Syria?
The US Army Contracting Command at Yongsan in South Korea is the contracting activity, the Defense Department added.

Tensions in the Korean peninsula have been increasing with the US nuclear aircraft carrier Carl Vinson and its battle group deployed in the region since April as well as B1 bombers in a show of military strength.

However, South Korea delayed in June the deployment of the US Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile system, after new President Moon Jai-in ordered an environmental impact assessment in the area where four additional THAAD launchers were to be deployed.
