Eldar Ibragimov, the vice consul in Russia's Consulate in Hurghada, stated that the Russian woman injured in a stabbing attack in the Egyptian resort town of Hurghada was released from hospital.

CAIRO (Sputnik) — The Russian woman injured in a stabbing attack in the Egyptian resort town of Hurghada was released from local hospital and is heading to Cairo for further medical consultations, Eldar Ibragimov, the vice consul in Russia's Consulate in Hurghada, told Sputnik on Saturday.

"She has been under treatment at El Salam Hospital in Hurghada until recently. She feels good, the condition is stable. She accepted the invitation of the Egyptian Health Ministry, was released from the hospital, and is now heading to the hospital in Cairo to receive experts' consultations, including from plastic surgeons," Ibragimov said.

Hurghada Knife Attacker Acted on Daesh Orders
The vice consul added that the woman received up to 20 cut wounds to her hand, a forearm and face.

On Friday, a 28-year old man armed with a knife attacked the guests of a Hurghada hotel at the beach and killed two women from Germany, while four other tourists from Armenia, the Czech Republic and Russia were injured. The perpetrator was arrested and the motives for the attack are being investigated. According to media reports, the attacker could have acted on the orders of the Daesh terror group (outlawed in Russia), or could be mentally ill.
