ROSTOV-ON-DON (Russia) (Sputnik) — According to the statement, all obvious "bloopers" in the documentary leave no doubt that the story itself was put hastily together by Ukrainian special services specifically ahead of the visit of US administration representatives to Ukraine.
"We paid attention to a TV story broadcast by one of the Ukrainian TV channels with allegedly another "confession" of the detainee in the Luhansk region, Viktor Ageev," the press service said in a statement.
"First of all, it is a 'ragged' montage of a so-called 'interview,' using 'cuts' with a choice of only the words and phrases from Ageev's speech that satisfied Ukrainian propagandists," the statement read.
Russia's Southern Military District also noted a range of other inconsistencies in the interview, such as Ageev’s claims that the contract with him was signed in just four days, which is impossible under the ministry’s recruitment rules.
"A long, one-month procedure consisted of submitting and processing documents and undergoing tests and retraining, precedes the admission under the contract," the press service stressed.
Russia's Southern Military District stressed that Ageev served in the Russian army under conscription over a year ago and "no longer has anything to do with military service" since he has retired in spring of 2016.
On June 27, the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's republic (LPR) announced that two of its fighters were killed and four more were captured by a Ukrainian special operations team in the region on June 24. Many Ukrainian media outlets and the BBC Russian service spread information that Ageev, had been among the captured militants. The Russian Defense Ministry refuted the allegation and said that Ageev had never served in Russia's armed forces under contract.
