North Korea Looks Set to Become Trump’s War Legacy – Russian Lawmaker

By continuing military drills off the Korean shore, US President Donald Trump puts himself on course for a war with the North that will be in keeping with US tradition, a senior Russian lawmaker said Thursday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — "The US won’t cancel military exercises near the Korean peninsula. Bush Jr. had Iraq, Obama had Libya. Trump is risking having a war of his own – the Korean one," Alexey Pushkov, a member of the Russian parliament’s defense committee, tweeted.

The United States and South Korea on Wednesday fired ballistic missiles off the Korean coast after Pyongyang claimed it had successfully launched an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) earlier in the week.

Russia and China urged both sides to back down and suggested the North would be more willing to freeze its UN-banned missile program if the United States and the South were to put an end to their annual military drills, which Pyongyang regards as training for an invasion.
