Japan will lodge a protest with North Korea over this Thursday’s missile launch, the Japanese television channel NHK has reported.

TOKYO (Sputnik) — South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said the North had fired several projectiles, suspected to be cruise missiles, from the eastern coast toward Japan, according to a local news agency Yonhap.

The outlet said the missiles had travelled some 124 miles.

In the past, Japan used its diplomatic channels in Beijing to lodge notes of protest with North Korea after similar tests.
