US Forces Korea spokesman Col. Rob Manning said that the THAAD missile defense system is currently operational and ready to defend South Korea if Pyongyang launches an attack.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The THAAD missile defense system is currently operational and ready to defend South Korea if Pyongyang launches an attack, US Forces Korea spokesman Col. Rob Manning told Sputnik.

"US Forces Korea confirms the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system is operational and has the ability to intercept North Korean missiles and defend the Republic of the Korea," Manning said on Monday.
