Russian National Guard to Take Part in North Caucasus Anti-Terror Operations

The Russian National Guard will be involved in carrying out anti-terrorist operations in North Caucasus, a draft presidential decree authored by the Federal Security Service (FSB) published Thursday indicates.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — President Vladimir Putin established the National Guard in April 2016.

"The overall leadership over the joint group is exercised by director of the Russian Federal National Guard Troops Service — commander-in-chief of the National Guard troops," the document said.

The Rosgvardia units and formations will be involved in the joint group of counterterrorist forces, according to the document published on the online portal of draft regulations.
