NASA's Plant Struck by Tornado

A large tornado hit NASA’s Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans at 11:25 a.m. CST on February 7, 2017.

According to NASA, only minor injuries were reported and NASA employees and other tenants were accounted for. The onsite emergency response team conducted a damage assessments of buildings and facilities.

The Michoud Assembly Facility is currently manufacturing and assembling the core stage of NASA's next-generation heavy-lift rocket, the Space Launch System.
