Russian Engineer Makes Affordable 3D Printed Bionic Arms
14:00 GMT 07.02.2017 (Updated: 19:29 GMT 19.10.2022) Maxim Lyashko, a young engineer, lost his arm in an accident back in 2013. After he realized there were no decent and affordable prosthetic limbs in Russia, he founded his Moscow-based lab, Max Bionic, and designed an Iron-Man style arm by himself.
This invention is believed to be the country's first 3D-printed bionic arm, which can be operated through an external power source and through what is called "phantom management." While similar foreign prostheses with the same functions cost at least $25,000, the Max Bionic arm won't cost you an arm and a leg — it only costs $1,500.
