Morevoer, Russian security services prevented a terrorist attack during the 2016 Ice Hockey World Championship in Moscow in May, First Deputy Head of Russia’s National Anti-Terrorism Committee (NAC) Central Office Igor Kulyagin said Tuesday.
“Militants, that had been preparing terror attacks during the Ice Hockey World Championship, were detained in Moscow on May 2,” Kulyagin told a briefing.
The Ice Hockey World Championship took place from May 6 to May 22.
The Russian special services and law enforcement bodies are counting on development of cooperation in fighting terrorism with the United States under president Donald Trump, First Deputy Head of Russia's National Anti-Terrorism Committee Central Office Igor Kulyagin said Tuesday.
"We have called for and we always continue to call for a mutually beneficial, substantial, specific cooperation in fighting terrorism. This is a principled position, we continue to stick to it and we will be happy if this cooperation received new momentum, we are very much hoping for this," Kulyagin told a briefing.
