Secretary of Defense James Mattis is required launch a 30-day readiness review, effective immediately, to assess the preparedness of all US armed forces, according to the executive order revealed by the White House.

"The Secretary of Defense shall conduct a 30-day Readiness Review," the order said on Friday night. "As part of this review, the Secretary shall) assess readiness conditions, including training, equipment maintenance, munitions, modernization and infrastructure."

Mattis was sworn in on Friday at the Pentagon's Hall of Heroes. Following the ceremony, Trump signed orders to rebuild the military and to introduce new vetting measures for refugees. "No one will question" that the US is the best military in the world, Trump emphasized. The US is the greatest force for justice "the world has even seen," he said.

The order will, Trump said, lead to "a great rebuilding of the armed services," including "new planes, new ships, new resources, and new tools for our men and women in uniform."

The 45th President will "pursue the highest level of military readiness," the White House said. Specifically, Trump intends to axe the budget sequestration limiting defense spending in addition to submitting "a new budget to Congress outlining a plan to rebuild our military."
