The Raytheon Company has received a $56.4 million US Navy contract to repair of the Advanced Targeting Forward Looking Infrared System (ATFLIS) used in support of the F/A-18 combat aircraft, the US Department of Defense announced.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — "Raytheon Company [of] McKinney, Texas, is being awarded a $56.4 million… order under a previously awarded basic ordering agreement for the repair of the Advanced Targeting Forward Looking Infrared System used in support of the F/A-18 aircraft," the announcement said on Wednesday.

Work on the contract is expected to be completed by December 2018, the Defense Department noted.

The Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornet is a twin-engine supersonic, all-weather carrier-capable multirole combat jet, designed as both a fighter and attack aircraft.
