ANKARA (Sputnik) – Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu postponed his visit for Ukraine, scheduled for December 20-21, after the Russian ambassador to Turkey was killed in Ankara, a Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesperson said Tuesday.

Russia's Ambassador to Turkey Andrey Karlov was shot by a gunman at an art gallery exhibition opening in Ankara late on Monday. Three other people were also injured in the attack. The Russian Foreign Ministry called the incident an act of terrorism.

"Due to yesterday’s tragic event in Ankara, our minister has cancelled his visit to Ukraine, scheduled for today and tomorrow. The visit has been postponed to a later time. It is not clear when it will happen," the spokesperson told RIA Novosti.
