US Senator McCain Reveals Wasted Pentagon Spending on Missile Defense

The US Missile Defense Agency (MDA) spent about $375 million on targets that either weren’t used or didn’t work, Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman John McCain said in a report.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – During a highly complex test of a new interceptor in 2015, the agency’s new target failed, the Republican senator from the state of Arizonastated.

"MDA spent at least $375 million on this first target, making it MDA’s most expensive medium-range target," McCain claimed in his annual “America's Most Wasted” report. "And it took nearly 10 years to deliver."

The Missile Defense Agency has since canceled the troubled program.
