Assassination of Russian Ambassador to Turkey Andrey Karlov on Monday happened amid dissatisfaction with success of Ankara-Moscow cooperation in Aleppo, chief advisor to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and columnist Ilnur Cevik told Sputnik.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Russian ambassador's killing was aimed at undermining Ankara-Moscow ties, which hurt Western interests, Cevik added.

"Of course, the excellent cooperation between Turkey and Russia in Aleppo may have angered many people triggering this assassination. Yet they are really targeting the cooperation between our two countries in all fields," Cevik said.
