UNITED NATIONS (Sputnik) — France finds it hard to compromise on its draft resolution on monitoring the situation on the ground in Syrian Aleppo as it is already the result of consultations, including with Russia, French Ambassador to the UN Francois Delattre said Sunday.

"The draft is already the outcome of negotiations that I personally led with my colleague [Russian envoy to the UN] Vitaly Churkin. This is already the result," Delattre told reporters before Security Council consultations. "Whether there is still room for compromise, honestly, I don’t think so."

Delattre noted the hard work on the draft "in a good spirit with everybody, including my Russian colleagues." He said that France intended to put the draft to a vote after the consultations regardless of Russia’s objections.

Delattre said that the draft contained three key demands: safe evacuation, immediate and unconditional access, protection of medical facilities and personnel, "all this under UN observation." Such demands, he said, would be difficult to compromise on.

Speaking to the reporters before Delattre, Churkin said the draft was "unworkable" and Russia would oppose it.
