Actions Plan in Kaliningrad, Baltic Shelf Up to 2045 Eleborated - Oil Company

Russia's LUKoil elaborated a working plan on the oil fields of the exclave of Kaliningrad and Baltics shelf until 2045, the company's president said on Friday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia's LUKoil developed a detailed plan of works on the oil fields of the exclave of Kaliningrad and Baltics shelf for the period until 2045, the company's president, Vagit Alekperov, said on Friday.

"We started to work actively in Kaliningrad, studied the region and got positive results. We have discovered [an oil field] here. It's not big, but for an exclave like Kaliningrad region it's important," Alekperov explained during his meeting with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

Alekperov noted that the company's oil resources in Kaliningrad make about 30 million metric tons.

"We know how expensive are the products in the wide sense that are delivered to the region. And the more own sources of development the region has, whether its energy sources or agriculture, the better," Medvedev said, underlining the importance of LUKoil's work in the region.

In Kaliningrad, LUKoil works both in the region and on the shelf of the Baltic Sea. In September, the company's vice-president, Ilya Mandrik, said that LUKoil plans to start production on four new oil fields on the Baltic shelf until 2020.
