Sochi to Become Japan's Nagato Sister City - Sochi Administration

Russian resort Sochi accepted invitation of Japanese Nagato to become sister cities, Sochi administration said.

SOCHI (Sputnik) — Sochi has responded to a proposal of Nagato to establish the sister-city agreement. The Sochi mayor is waiting for his Japanese colleague arrival to discuss further details.

"With consideration of business partnership development between Japan and Russia and of eagerness to strengthen it at the municipal level the city of Sochi expressed readiness to cooperate with the city of Nagato in the fields of tourism, culture, sport and education. We have already sent Japanese city's mayor invitation to visit Sochi at any convenient time in order to discuss contract projects," Sochi Mayor Anatoly Pakhomov said.

According to Pakhomov, Sochi has a lot in common with Nagato which is famous for its hot mineral springs.
