WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — US President-elect Donald Trump said in a Twitter message earlier this week that the F-35 program costs were out of control. The total life cycle cost of the F-35 Joint Strike fighter program from concept, research and development, test and evaluation, production, operation and maintenance, and inflation was estimated to be $1.1 trillion dollars, according to the Pentagon's Cost Assessment Program Evaluation (CAPE) office.

"Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Co., Fort Worth, Texas, is being awarded $181,168,994 for modification to a previously awarded contract to provide recurring logistics services for F-35 Lightning II aircraft," the release stated on Thursday.

Services to be provided per the contract include ground maintenance, automated systems, supply chain management, and pilot raining, among other services, the release added.
