Crimean Museums Confirm Plans to Appeal Decision to Send Scythian Gold To Kiev

Crimean museums confirmed that they planed to appeal the decision of the District Court of Amsterdam that ruled to send Scythian gold exhibition to Kiev instead of keeping it in Crimea, director of the Crimean Central Museum of Tavrida Andrey Malgin said on Wednesday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier, a decision to file appeal against the court decision was announced by Anastaia Savitskaya who represents Crimean museums in this process.

"Undoubtedly we will file an appeal against this decision", Malgin stated.

In early 2014, four Crimean and one Kiev museums provided the collection of the Scythian gold to Amsterdam for an exhibition called "Crimea. Gold and Secrets of the Black Sea" in the Allard Pierson Museum. The dispute about the exhibition arose after Crimea reunified with Russia following a 2014 referendum. Earlier on Wednesday, the District Court of Amsterdam ruled that the Scythian gold artifacts should return to Kiev.
