The unconstructive position of the Polish authorities on the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline project is politicized and runs counter to interests of national business, Russian Foreign Ministry's Third European Department Director Sergey Nechayev told Sputnik.

Warsaw Sees No Reason in Building Nord Stream-2 Pipeline – Ambassador to Russia
MOSCOW (Sputnik) In July, Poland’s Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK), objected to the establishment of a joint venture for the Nord Stream-2 project. ENGIE, Gazprom, OMV, Shell, Uniper (E.ON’s offshoot) and Wintershall withdrew their joint venture request the following month.

"The unconstructive position taken by the Polish authorities, in our opinion, is politicized and runs counter to the interests of national business," Nechayev said.

The official slammed Poland seeking to "overcome its energy dependence on Russia."

"This trend is made up, and not motivated by anything, as Russia has never given a reason to doubt our reliability as a supplier, despite of the political conjecture," he said.

According to Nechayev, Moscow believes that holding talks with Warsaw on laying an extra leg of the gas pipeline on the Baltic seabed is "an unpromising affair."
