Russia Pulls Out From International Criminal Court
The Hague-based court dropped charges earlier this year against William Ruto, the deputy of President Uhuru Kenyatta, who had a separate ICC case against him terminated in 2014.

"The experience has given us cause to observe that this institution has become a tool of global power politics and not the justice it was built to dispense," Kenyatta said at a celebration marking the nation’s independence, as quoted by the Daily Nation newspaper.

South Africa, Burundi and Gambia have recently announced their plans to pull out from the ICC for similar reasons, triggering fears of a mass exodus and prompting other African nations, including Nigeria, Zambia and Malawi, to pledge unwavering support of the court.
