Russian Military Registers 37 Ceasefire Violations in Syria in Past 24 Hours

Amid ceasefire in Syria, illegal armed formations performed 37 shellings in five provinces of the war-torn country, the Russian Defense Ministry said Saturday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Russian center for Syrian reconciliation at the Hmeimim airbase registered a total of 37 violations of the ceasefire regime in Syria in the last 24 hours, the ministry said in a statement published on its website.

"Within last 24 hours, 37 shellings performed by illegal armed formations have been registered in the provinces of Aleppo (18), Damascus (12), Latakia (3), Homs (3) and Daraa (1)," the ministry said in a daily bulletin.

Militants from the Jaysh Islam group used mortars and small arms to attack a number of settlements in the Damascus province.

In the Latakia province, Ahrar Sham militants attacked two settlements using light arms as well as assaulting government troop positions.

The Free Syrian Army attacked two areas of besieged Aleppo, while The Jabhat Fatah Al-Sham, formerly known as Nusra Front, used mortars, multiple launch rocket systems and artillery to attack over 10 areas of the city.

A number of violations have also been registered in the Homs province, according to the bulletin.
