Suicide Bombing in Nigeria Reportedly Kills 56, Injures 177

At least 56 people were killed and 177 others were injured in a suicide bombing in northeastern Nigeria, local media report.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – At least 57 of the wounded received critical injuries and were taken to hospitals in the capital of Adamawa State, Yusuf Muhammed, Chairman of the Madagali Local Government, was cited as saying by Premium Times on Friday.

Earlier estimates put the death toll at 45.

The blast, carried out by two female suicide bombers, occurred on Friday at a local market in the city of Madagali located in Nigeria’s northeastern Adamawa State.

​The Boko Haram extremist group began large-scale attacks in northeastern Nigeria in 2009. Last year, the group expanded its attacks into neighboring Niger, Cameroon and Chad.

The extremist group has pledged allegiance to Daesh terrorist organization, outlawed in Russia and many other countries.
