Syrian talks should resume as soon as possible, preferably before the end of the term of the current UN secretary-general Ban Ki-moon, Russian Envoy to the UN Vitaly Churkin told reporters before a Security Council meeting on Thursday.

UNITED NATIONS (Sputnik) — Churkin said that it is important to attempt to revive the talks before Mr. Ban’s term expires.

"I think that talks must begin at some point and we’ve been urging Mr. de Mistura to do it as quickly as possible for a number of reasons."
