SIMFEROPOL (Sputnik) — A delegation of entrepreneurs from the autonomous German region of Bavaria plan to visit Crimea with promising investment projects, Crimean Deputy Prime Minister Georgy Muradov said Sunday.
"Businessmen from Bavaria are going to visit us once again. They have offered interesting projects, such as the processing of sunflower to produce sunflower oil… the creation of an enterprise for the manufacturing of special hoses, which are used for drip irrigation systems. These are high-quality hoses, which are in great demand in view of the fact that there is a certain shortage of water in Crimea," Muradov said.
According to him, Crimea's agriculture is switching to thrifty water consumption, so the manufacturing of hoses for irrigation would contribute to these goals.
Despite West's disapproval, over 60 delegations from dozens of countries, including those of the European Union, have visited Crimea this year. According to Muradov, a delegation of Greek entrepreneurs will arrive in Crimea for a two-day visit on Monday.
Following the reunification, Ukraine completely stopped to supply Crimea with water, while Kiev was responsible for some 85 percent of the supplies. In part, the problem was eased after the transfer of water from Crimean River Buyuk Karasu into the North Crimean Canal, as well as the drilling of new water wells. In October, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that some $366 million had been allocated from the budget to address the issue of water shortage in Crimea.
