Austria's Freedom Party's leader Norbert Hofer congratulated his rival Alexander Van der Bellen on his victory in the Austrian presidential election rerun and thanked his supporters.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Freedom Party's candidate Norbert Hofer conceded his defeat in the Austrian presidential election rerun on Sunday and congratulated his rival Alexander Van der Bellen on his victory.

"I thank all of you. You have provided great support for me and I am very sad that it did not work out. I congratulate Alexander Van der Bellen on his victory and ask all Austrians to remain united and work together. We are all Austrians, regardless of how we have voted," he said on Facebook.
