Russian Transport Ministry to Talk With ICAO on Ukraine's Missile Launches
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian aviation authorities have informed the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) of Ukraine's warning on introducing new restrictions for flights over the Black Sea near Crimea, the Transport Ministry said Wednesday.

"There is an air navigation council of the ICAO North Atlantic office underway. Our representatives described the situation relating to introducing these restricted areas, we hope that this statement will be adopted as an official resolution," Deputy Minister Valery Okulov told reporters.

The Russian air transport agency Rosaviatsia said Tuesday that Kiev has issued new warnings on introducing new restrictions for flights over the Black Sea near the Crimean peninsula without consulting with Moscow.

Russian Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov said earlier on Tuesday that Moscow had not yet received a response from Kiev on the Ukrainian military’s plan to fire missiles in airspace above Crimean territorial waters this week.

Sokolov said he was in talks with an ICAO official on the situation. Okulov added that an ICAO council president is also briefed on the developments.
