MEXICO CITY (Sputnik) — The ceremony takes place at the Revolution Square near the Jose Marti Memorial. The site has already been visited by several million people, who wanted to pay their last tribute to the Cuban comandante. The ceremony is broadcast live.

Castro passed away on November 25 at the age of 90, as announced by his brother, incumbent Cuban President Raul Castro. Cuba received many condolences over Fidel Castro's death from leaders around the world.

A funeral ceremony has been scheduled for December 4, and will be held at a cemetery in Santiago de Cuba.
