There is no chance of Green Party presidential nominee Jill Stein’s election recount effort to overturn the vote results, President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team spokesman Jason Miller said on Monday.
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Miller noted that Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton had already conceded election defeat to Trump.
"So much oxygen has been given to the recount effort where there is absolutely no chance of the results changing… this is a conceded election," Miller told reporters.
Miller alleged that Stein and the Green Party were using the recount as an excuse to fundraise for the party.
To become US president, a candidate must win at least 270 electoral votes, a threshold Trump exceeded by at least 20, with a few states’ tabulations still to be finalized. Clinton received 232 electoral votes.
