Suspect in Ohio State University Attack Identified As 18-Year-Old Student

The now-dead suspect in an attack Monday on the Ohio State University campus that left 11 people injured has been identified as student Abdul Razak Ali Artan, university public-safety director Monica Moll told reporters.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – "OSU confirms the name of the suspect, Abdul Razak Ali Artan. He was an OSU student," Moll said at a briefing hours after the attack and Artan’s killing by police. She said there was "no information on motives” in the attack, in which some victims were intentionally hit by a car and others were stabbed.

Campus police are continuing to investigate, but authorities said Artan was alone in his vehicle and carried out the attack by himself.

Initial reports didn’t identify the suspect by name but said he was a refugee from Somalia who had attained permanent residency in the United States.
